Duration for this tutorial of creating a subdomain in cPanel is 10 minutes.

Sometimes you need to create a new subdomain for your website e.g. developer needs to test new features before deploying to the production environment. This short “How-To” by BestCloudTools gives you a quick overview of how to create a subdomain in cPanel.

  1. Navigate to “Subdomains” view for creating a new subdomain

    On the dashboard click on “Subdomains” what you should find in the Domains section. cPanel Domains Section

  2. Populate necessary fields and click “Create”

    Fill in the subdomain name (“staging” for our case), select the desired main domain from the menu, and enter the home directory for the subdomain. When you are sure that everything is ok, then click on “Create”. Now you should see your staging subdomain listed in the bottom part of a page. Please remember that visitors cannot view your subdomain immediately. Changes to DNS records may require two days or more to reach all of the nameservers on the Internet.
